July thoughts

After showering - hence the damp hair!

Oh hey blogspot what's goin' on? This year may have been the longest winter I've ever felt in my life. I'm starting to miss the sunshine, the shorts and skirts I'll be able to wear without a pair of legging, staying out longer with a few friends because the sun still hasn't set yet and the best thing of all, summer meant an temporary end to uni. Summer is Christmas time here in Australia. Summer is also a time to say goodbye to the year we've had.

102 hours to go.

Today I had my first professional driving lesson with an instructor in one and a half years. The first driving instructor that I had wasn't as patient as the one today. He didn't scratch my wrist when I drove too. For the whole day, the rain would pour and stop suddenly. So there I was in the car, all mirrors blurred and I was to  practice changing lanes for the first time. It was a bit nerve racking, and he could see how I felt as well. After the lesson, he explained to me that I still needed practice on the main road and refine a few turning points. Overall, I was not bad! Here's to another snail paced step towards independence.

First day of Uni - walked to Maccas for lunch.

First lecture of the Semester.

Waiting outside the lecture theater with Linda.

I've also completed my first week of Semester 2. Pretty quick wasn't it? I'm already confronted by assignments due in just a few weeks. I have to walk more around campus to get to my classes. I'm running out of choices at the food court in fear of having an attack of E.coli (see previous posts on food poisoning). Words can't explain how much I hate waiting at the station in the cold for the train back home. This is why I'm starting to get sick of the cold (paragraph 1) and why I need to learn how to drive (paragraph 2)

I've started to exercise less - from four times a week to a half. It's time to start dragging my sloth of a body more to the treadmill again. Since also purchasing a 500 ml bottle from DAISO on the holidays, I'm telling myself to drink at least two bottles of it a day. I initially started to exercise regularly at the start of the year in hopes to get into a better shape. I was focused more on my appearance than anything, that I was even too self conscious to take a full body photo. If I was to be standing in a group of people I'd even shrink myself to the back to hide. Halfway through now and I'm more concerned about my health. Honestly this year, I hadn't had many good days due to mysterious stomach pains. They were dull and aching, running from different areas across my abdomen. I hate seeing the doctor and I'd avoid it at all cost. Why? I'm cancer phobic. Always have been. I hate hearing that word. I hate reading about it. Sure if you're afraid of spiders, heights or public speaking you can always avoid them. Cancer well, it's an inevitable flaw of the human body. I am more scared of cancer than death itself.

Enough of that, I'm starting to get shivers already.

On a lighter note I finished watching Once Upon A Time.

“True love isn’t easy, it must be fought for - because once you find it, it can never be replaced.”

Now I have to keep myself preoccupied until the return of Season 2. It's hard. I'm an absolute sucker for the concept of "true love". I'm currently re-watching episodes aired on TV right now in my bedroom. I'm searching up .gifs, fan artwork, quotes and news. Even the music theme of OUAT brings a tiny string of joy to my day. I'm fan girling over past episodes with my friends. I'm doing the things you do when you've just finished something so amazingly good. What am I suppose to do with my life now? What's there to look forward to? My emotions....post - television depression.

Just a few more photos:

New cup I bought at Bevilles.

Yumcha for Janet's birthday - a photo taken after we ate all the food!

Bought this due to a sudden urge for chocolate at work.
It was a forewarning from Mother Nature.
Surprise.

 A friendship - Sophia.

Song previously on repeat: GANGNAM STYLE - PSY

A simple list.

I will graduate from university and become a teacher - just so I can change all the answers to "C" on a multiple choice test and watch their reaction.

I will have a full health check up - so I can have peace of mind.

I will fall head over heels and ridiculously in love - with all it's beauty and ugly.

I will buy a house for my parents.

I will change a life.

I will be in two places at once.

I will spend a moment of my life star gazing.

I will watch the sunrise.

I will visit Europe and Asia.

I will have a shopping spree.

I will eat at the finest of fine.

I will work as a volunteer.

I will treat myself to a well deserved day at hot springs.

I will write everyone a letter - not necessarily a goodbye, but a thank you to those left behind in the past and in my present life. I'm not leaving with unsaid words.

I will take a picture with everyone on my Facebook friend's list.

I will build a blanket fort.

I will meet someone at 4 in the morning.

I will walk around the city and watch the fireworks at New Year's Eve in another country.

I will dance in the rain.

I will climb onto the rooftop.

I will climb up a really tall tree.

I will meet a celebrity I truly admire.

I will draw, paint, sculpt, design, build, create.

I will raise a puppy.

I will drive.

I will paint my nails red.

I will read more - I will live as many lives in as many worlds as I can before returning to my own.

I will perform one song to an audience.

I will learn any kind of dance routine.

I will play the piano.

I will order Starbucks with a fake name.

I will make someone smile everyday.

I will dye my hair into a different colour.

I will reenact a movie scene.

I will kiss a baby on the forehead.

I will actually jump in a huge pile of leaves.

I will get my ears pierced.

I will thank my grandparents.

I will never deny love.

I will be happy.

I will hope.

I will live, and I will not fear death.

The final week.

GJ Buddy
16th July

  • Linda and I are always keen on our food adventures every Monday at uni, but today we decided to go back home and try something familiar, yet newly built in our area.
  • I tried four Takoyaki balls for $1.50 at uni as Linda and I shared a big cup of sweet corn soup.
  • We've always had our favourite beverage at Gloria Jeans but now that there's one built closer to home, we had to give it a try!
  • I ordered a raspberry Italian soda. It was quite a surprise for me! I thought it'd be just a regular raspberry flavoured soft drink, yet this tasted thicker - the vibrant and sweet syrup gave the drink an overall taste of lollies.
  • Berry yogurt at Yo & Me. Refreshing yet extremely sour - I had to eat a couple of dutch pancakes off Linda's plate to save my tastebuds.

Birthday girls
18th July

  • Met up with Lilian - my daughter, my baby girl, my lovely, my birthday partner and my HJ & Pho buddy!
  • Had lunch at only the best Pho place, Pho Hung Vuong
  • I underestimated the size of bowls and immediately regretted my decision when my MEDIUM sized serving came out. Luckily Lilian was able to help me finish off this mighty bowl.
  • May have overfed the child.
  • Went back to Gloria Jeans for this time, a mango cruze smoothie. I was able to let Lilian rest here from her food coma.
  • Poor girl was so sleepy and tired from school and she still managed to walk me home AND back to tutor too. I LOVE YOU!

The
"We've ran out of places to go to"
Day
19th July

  • Missed out on a wake up call because I had left the phone on silent and slept in for another hour.
  • Seriously, we've ran out of places to go to (or so it feels like).
  • Decided to drive aimlessly for a while...
  • Came across a new suburb that the both of us had never been to and hey what do you know? It's exploring time...!
  • Walked up and down the street together to pass the time and get some fresh air. Here's one clue, this place has heaps of furniture stores. Every corner, here, there; a furniture store.
  • Went to the library along the way on our walk.
  • Admired the serene calmness and neatness this library had to offer. There were no screaming children here, no books thrown everywhere. This is was actually quite an experience and difference from what we're so use to back in our local library.
  • Maccas visit #1.
  • Drove back home for Maccas visit #2.

The fourth week.

Movie Marathon
11th July

  • Lunch at Ying Sushi with Janet & Sophia. Bought Matcha Tea drink for the first from Dessert 1st
  • Look at all those snacks at Janet's house...! I guess it'd be normal in a household with three young and growing brothers.
  • Watched The Notebook, Jennifer's Body and In Time. I've never seen three movies in one go before!
  • Lazed on the couch with blankets until the sun went down.

Bowling
14th July

  • School holidays wouldn't be complete without AMF Bowling! and so too for the swarm of running and screaming children in the place.
  • I haven't bowled in years, which explains the epic failure besides my name. Unfortunately my mother, cousin Winston and Wesley and Uncle Huey will never let that excuse go...

I've lost once, so I'm pretty sure I can do it again.

Two years later.

As embarrassing as it is re - reading your past posts on blogspot, I came across a piece I've written almost exactly two years ago (only three days apart!). During that time, and caught up in a fuzzy cloud of silly crushes and fantasies - I had written 10 things I liked about him

"
1. when you smile, i smile. so when you don't eat, i don't eat either. SO
EAT.
2. it's the little things that matter, such as trying to find me in room full of people when i ran away without telling you.
3. talking to you is enough to get me through the day, except when you tell
me that you worry. When you're worried, i'm insane.
4. om nom nom nom...you're so cute, you think capsicum will kill you.
5. i feel so safe when i'm with you. if anyone gives me a headache, i'll tell you.
6. it made my day when my computer crashed when you sent me msgs.
7. when am i going to see you again? after exams is a must.
8. why are you sooo adorable? answer: read above

and

9. you never seem to say "goodbye" in your msgs. you'd always wish me a
goodnight, to keep on studying, to keep sleeping and saying that we'll talk
soon.
10. uhh...it's 8:36pm now, i have to get back to homework XD

- Posted by Karen at 7:39 PM Friday, July 16, 2010

                                                                                                                                        "

As I cringe at each word above, I think it's about time I wrote 10 things I dislike about him now. I personally do not think he is a bad person. He is a person who has made bad choices. I must remember that he is only human and I do not hate him for the way he's made me feel. I never regret any of my happiness, so I'm thankful for the times and memories he's given to me.

So here it is, 10 things I hate about you:

1. Your selfishness:
Here's the thing, friends help each other. You were first and foremost a friend to me so when you refused to borrow a book for me because you were getting teased about us, well...what's does that mean to me? You chose yourself over me. You were the one establishing that we were "just friends" and that you didn't want to fuel the idea of us becoming something much more. It meant that I couldn't rely on you...just so you can save your name's sake.

2. Your smoking:
Earlier, I asked you if you would ever consider smoking. You said that you didn't want to kill yourself like that. Look at you now.

3. Your drinking:
As the months past, our conversations began to circle around how drunk you got the night before, or how much you drank, which nightclubs you went to, how sick you felt...etc. I was the girl who'd still wait online  to listen to all of that, if it meant that I'd still be a part of your life.

4. The fact that you can wake up in the morning and forget about someone:
Sometimes I'd find myself still puzzled at this. You've become such a big part of my routine, you were the one who could make or break my day. So when it suddenly stopped one day, oh yeah I was pretty not-my-so-self. I became worried, and even blamed myself that it was my fault that you left....me.

5. How I thought that I knew you:
I really thought I did.

6. How in the end I had to put so much effort to maintain "us":
Whatever that meant, I could feel you forgetting me. I had to initiate all the conversations and lunches. They say it's courageous for a girl to make the move first, but there's a point where it felt as if no matter how much you try to poke a dead bird, it's never going to wake up.

7. When I'm with your friends and you don't seem to take notice of me:
I sat with you and your friends for two hours.
Quiet.
Tired.
Bored.
But it's okay, as long as you're still there...right?

8. Your slow replies & how you ignore messages:
Having a shitty phone is one thing. Having a shitty plan is another. If only you knew how scared I was, and how many times I'd read over and over the texts before I'd actually manage to grow some balls and send them to you - then maybe you would have taken a few minutes in your busy life to properly reply or actually reply to them.

9.

10.

I can only think of eight reasons now and I intend to leave it at that. I do not want to force myself to pinpoint anymore of his flaws. Two years ago the thought of him being with someone else was unbearable. Now, it's finally happened and I do not feel a single ounce of regret or envy. I've come along way from changing "i" to "I", other punctuation notes and wonders why the heck I've used an emoticon in a post.

He is happy and, I am too.

The third week.

Home girl
2nd July

  • After three weeks, I finally get to hug my Lan again.
  • Went over to her place after she came home from the airport.
  • Caught up on lost time and went through her vacation photos while sharing a tub of vanilla ice cream.

"Passion for Fashion"
5th July

  • This was it. This was the day I could finally satisfy my retail cravings I've been thinking of all semester - Harbor Town and DFO with Sophia (again).
  • Started off the day with a small sample of peach tea in front of Oriental Tea House. There's nothing dodgy at all with a random pot of tea in the middle of no where.
  • Tried Grill'd for the first time for lunch! Delicious crispy chips I must say.
  • Walked around MC to warm up for bigger spending ahead.
  • Fully fueled and now charged for day, Sophia and I traveled to Harbor town and DFO.
  • Bought four oversized top/dresses and three bottles of nail polish. I was eager to paint my nails for the first time tonight!
  • Sophia cleaned out her wallet.
  • Introduced Sophia to him as he arrived for a night at the city.
  • Sipped a Chai Latte at Theobroma Chocolate Lounge.
  • Bumped into a tired Janet, and suggested she took the train home with us. She said yes of course.

Rainbows
6th July

  • Had a horrid previous night. Couldn't sleep at all with intense stomach pains. I had never felt like this before. Turns out Sophia had the same problem. This meant one thing: Food Fucking Poisoning. I am blaming that mysterious pot of tea we had from the day before.
  • Fortunately I felt a bit better in the morning and headed to the station to meet up with Winnie, Sophia & Tina for karaoke in the city.
  • Finally caught up with Sophie and Meilin and due to our food poisoning from the night, Sophia and I decided to have a a clean diet for the day and ate chicken curry from Hanaichi for lunch...not the humongous gourmet hotdogs from DOGNATION that everyone else was devouring!
  • Food always come first and with a full stomach, it was time to do the ka-ra-o-ke!
The Teddy Bear Room
Enter: Rainbow Karaoke

Oh JMac, the high school girl in me still...

  • ...and soon with Connie!, we were hesitant and shy at first - not many were eager to grab the microphone just yet.
  • Soon, the vibe picked up and everyone was singing their hearts out....for five hours.
  • As the sun went down, our hunger kicked up again.
  • Dined at a candlelit restaurant, Ca De Vin.
  • FOOD IS BETTER IN PHOTOS:
